Kedron Brook Flood Recovery September/October 2026 - Stage 4 Project Update
After a very busy month of works for Stage 4 of the Kedron Brook Riverine Recovery project, we are excited to share the latest progress and remaining works to be completed.
September has been another productive month for the DRFA Kedron Brook Riverine Recovery Project, with Stage 4 works making strong headway across our active locations. The project team have been working hard to limit site interruptions, which paired with favourable weather conditions, has allowed the project to stay on schedule to meet its target project completion date as early as November 2026.
Thank you to the local community and landholders for your continued interest, patience, and support as we work to revitalise these crucial creek sections.
Below is an outline of key progress across Site A, Site B, and Site D, along with upcoming milestones.
Site A progress
Following initial earthworks, all timber pile fields have now been successfully installed at Site A to support bank stabilisation. Works at this site has transitioned to installing biodegradable jute netting across the disturbed areas to prepare for revegetation.
Site B progress
Progress is moving along rapidly at Site B. Timber pile fields are now fully established, and the installation of jute netting is already complete across the site. Works are now transitioning toward full site revegetation. The site office at Site B will remain in place until the completion of work at Site A and D.
Site D progress
On-ground works have officially commenced at Site D. The team has begun bank reprofiling and compacting with engineered fill. Throughout September, the team have worked on reprofiling and compacting the bank with engineered fill to establish target levels. Following this, works will move directly into installing coarse woody debris and rock scour protection. These structures will contribute directly to bank protection while promoting in-stream habitat for fish and other aquatic species.
Looking ahead
Over the coming weeks, our team will be progressing with the following key actions:
- Transitioning Site A and Site B into active revegetation with dense planting of locally appropriate native species to support bank strength and biodiversity.
- Finalising earthworks at Site D, including bank reprofiling and compacting with engineered fill prior to revegetation.
Across all sites, throughout this process, our team is continuously monitoring flora, fauna, sediment and erosion and instituting relevant controls to ensure the surrounding ecosystem and biodiversity remain protected. *Inclement weather and high flow events have the potential to delay the project, and should any delays arise, we will communicate updates with you as quickly as possible.
