Fire science initiatives and strategic partnerships. The QFBC drives evidence-based fire management through strategic research partnerships and active engagement with leading fire science networks across Australia.

Natural Hazards Research Australia (NHRA)

Official partnership with Australia's national centre for natural hazard resilience, enabling access to cutting-edge research and collaborative opportunities in disaster risk reduction.

QFBC Fire Science Reference Group

A formal subcommittee of Healthy Land & Water's Executive Science Committee, providing scientific expertise and guidance on fire research priorities. The group focuses on three core research areas: social impacts, fire ecology, and monitoring and evaluation.

Communities of practice

The QFBC maintains active representation on key committees and networks to ensure our members benefit from the latest research and best practices:

  • Queensland State Bushfire Committee – Contributing to state-level fire management policy and Indigenous land management initiatives.
  • Area Fire Management Groups – Standing member of Southern Downs and Toowoomba as well as Scenic Rim, Logan, Ipswich groups.
  • Fire Ecology Engagement Learning Network (FEELN) – Victorian-led network advancing fire ecology knowledge sharing.
  • NSW Hot Spots Program – Long-standing committee membership supporting interstate collaboration.
